  1. What do you have in common with an ancient Egyptian? Well a lot of our common household items were used by the ancient Egyptians. For example, wigs, combs, scissors, make-up, toothpaste, toothbrush, and even….   
  2. The art of painting on plaster was invented by ancient Egyptians. 
  3. Pharaohs were buried with many beautiful treasures and artifacts to ensure that they had a good life in the afterworld. To fend off grave robbers, the tombs were said to be cursed. The curse is called the curse of the Pharaohs, and it goes like this: Death comes on wings to he who enters the tomb of a Pharaoh. This curse was also known as the curse of Osiris and Isis. 
  4. The man who funded the expedition to King Tut’s tomb was bitten on his cheek by a mosquito and he contracted pneumonia and died a month later. Do you think that might be the curse of the Pharaohs? 
  5. One of the oldest board games in the world, sentence, was played in Egypt. 
  6. The first international peace treaty was between Egypt and the Hittite empire. 
  7. Although modern antibiotics were not used until the 20th century, in ancient Egypt, the prescribed moldy bread for infection. 
  8. To keep away the lice and other insects, it is said that ancient Egyptians would shave most of the hair off of their bodies. 
  9. The ancient Egyptians were responsible for many inventions, including cement. 
  10. Archaeological evidence indicates that a developed Egyptian society has been around for over 5000 years. That makes their empire the longest running empire of the history of the world. 
  11. The earliest scientist, who is known by name today, was the great Egyptian architect, Imotep.  He lived almost 5000 years ago. Now other cultures had scientists and architects, however, they just didn’t record them. 
  12. Ancient Egyptians didn’t have some of the supplies that we are used to today. Because supplies were limited, they slept on pillows made of stone. 
  13. What do you do with all of that extra sand? Ancient Egyptians made glass. 
  14. You know that Egyptian god with the jackal head? Well that was Anubis. He guided the dead to the judgment halls of Osiris.
