So today we have some strange animal facts that I bet you didn’t know!

  1. So you think the nosiest land animal would be something like an elephant, or even a lion’s roar. But it’s not. It’s actually a monkey. The howler monkey is the nosiest land animal and you can hear its cries up to 2 miles away.
  2. There’s this river in East Australia named the Alligator River. This was a mistake because there are no alligators in this river at all, only crocodiles.
  3. Believe it or not, elephant’s teeth are so big that they can weigh up to 12 pounds.
  4. So you know those little tiny crickets that like to make noise at night? Well there’s a cricket in South Africa called the giant African cricket and what’s weird about this cricket is that it actually eats human hair.
  5. So you know how you usually need about 8 hours of sleep at night? Well guess how much sleep and elephant needs? An elephant only sleeps about 2 hours a day.
  6. There’s this lizard in New Zealand called the tuatara. And what’s interesting about the tuatara is that it has 3 eyeballs. Two on the front, and one on the top.
  7. Do you know the Disney movie, The Lion King, where the little lion roars? Well that’s not true because a lion cannot roar until it is at least 2 years old.
  8. So I only weight about 107lbs but a full grown giraffe’s neck can weight up to 500lbs.
  9. A rhinoceros beetle is really strong. It’s so strong that it can carry up to 850 times its weight on its back. Now if you were that strong, you would be able to carry up to 76 family size cars on your back.
  10. Now here’s something kind of cool. So tigers have stripes right? Well if you shave a tiger, not only is the stripes on their fur, but it is imprinted on their skin as well. And if you don’t believe me, why don’t you try shaving a tiger.
  11. So if you think your ex boyfriend eats a lot, well an elephant eats up to 500lbs of hay a day and drinks about 60 gallons of water a day.
  12. So how do you tell a difference between a toad and a frog? Well one ways is that a frog can jump, but a toad cant.
  13. Most snakes lay eggs, but an anaconda, which is the worlds largest snake, doesn’t. It actually gives birth to live young.
  14. So you probably think that all zebras look alike because of their stripes. Well their stripes are like fingerprints. No two zebras have the same stripes.
  15. You probably think that elephants aren’t good swimmers, but that’s not true. Elephants have been seen for miles swimming off the Indian Ocean.
  16. Another interesting thing about elephants is that they’re the only mammal in the world that can’t jump.
